Back home!

It's always interesting to me to be able to leave during the week and then be back in time for church. It's almost as if the trip was its own little secret. Speaking of secrets, can someone please share with me the secret of keeping kids from tattling on one another. And I guess that's not the real secret I want to know, the one I really want to know is how exactly is it that one gets children to play nice with one another.
I am thankful that the cousins were all comfortable enough with one another that they bickered and argued but to be honest, it annoyed me to no end. I try my best to not instruct or correct my niece and nephew, as we only see each other once a year, twice if we're lucky. But it's tough to stand by and let things happen as well. I guess that's the part of family life that will have to be figured out as the years go by.
Unfortunately, I did not get any pictures from this trip, well, there was one picture almost right at the beginning, when they were all very happy to see one another.
We had a lovely time at the aquarium.  It was a fun trip all around truth be told.  We went to numerous museums and outings even got some shopping in.  I have a couple of new projects and a couple of things to help with old projects.  I really need to work on that "completion" thing before I buy new stuff.  But I just couldn't help myself as my BelleMere was generous enough to set me up with supplies for two smocking projects, which I've been saying that I've wanted to start doing again and so here I am with two projects for this summer.  


So here are some things I learned about traveling with a five year old...

1. 6 dollars is a small price to pay for guaranteed TV entertainment on a plane.

2. Having snacks on hand is ALWAYS a good idea.
3. Just because it's a bagel and cream cheese, doesn't mean that it will get eaten
4. An Ipod Touch is a blessing when young children and late dinner times are involved.
5. It's always best to make quick purchase decisions when shopping with three children

Reserve 2 tbsp for garnish. Press mixture onto bottom and sides of a greased 9-inch springform pan. Chill in the freezer while preparing the filling. Mix cream cheese and sugar until smooth and light. Beat in eggs, vanilla, and cornstarch until just blended. S

Tasty Tuesday: Roasted Broccoli

I ran across this recipe on Pinterest the other day that was labeled " The Best Broccoli Of Your Life. " I normally either steam our broccoli in the microwave or saute it with olive oil and red pepper flakes on the stove top. I decided this would be something to try. I did the salt, pepper and olive oil part of the recipe. I didn't have the majority of the other ingredients. In fact, all I had was a little bit of Parmesan  It was wonderful. Not the best broccoli of my life, but honestly, it was pretty close. And if I had the lemon juice and all that jazz, it may very well be the best. What have you been eating lately?

Sweet Caroline by Kelda Poynot

  First off, my copy of Sweet Caroline  (aff link) is not a gifted review book, I spent my well earned Amazon No-Rush Rewards money on this book. Second of all, this is not my standard close door kind of romance. Third of all, this is a really fun read. Caroline is a hard working young lady that is doing all that she can to make ends meet and to get her graduate degree. Part of that work is renting out the room above her garage. When she answers the phone of an unknown number, believing it's a future tenant, she has no idea how much her life is about to change.  The young man on the other end of that call, Hashim, is tall, dark, and mysterious in all the right ways. The story quickly moves from the girl next door falling for a stranger to a fight for their lives.
